  • Gyeongbokgung (Gyeongbok Palace)
  • This was the major center of political life during the 500-year long Joseon Dynasty, the
    last of the Korean dynasties. In fact, Gyeongbokgung represents the finest architectural
    techniques of the entire dynasty.

  • Deoksugung (Deoksu Palace)
  • Deoksu literally means wish for longevity. The Joseon Dynasty's last sovereign, King
    Sunjong, named this palace Deoksu to wish his father, King Gojong, a long life. Nearly
    6,000 relics used in the royal court during the Joseon Dynasty are exhibited here. Every
    afternoon, the changing of the Royal Guard ceremony is reenacted in traditional
    costume at the main gate, just as it may have occurred for hundreds of years.

  • Changdeokgung (Changdeok Palace)
  • Changdeokgung is the best-preserved palace of all the five palaces in Seoul. It is an
    important part of Korea's traditional architectural heritage, and it was designated as a
    World Heritage site by UNESCO

  • Changgyeonggung (Changgyeong Palace)
  • Changgyeonggung was built in 1484 by order of King Seongjong (the ninth king of the
    Joseon Dynasty,(1469-1494) for former kings and princes, especially the seventh king,
    Sejo (1417-1468), the eighth, Yeojong (1468-1469) and Prince Deokjong.
