01 Programs for Early Adaptation of Immigrants

Programs are offered to newly married immigrants who enter Korea for the first time as a marriedcouple. They are offered in 13 languages at the immigration offices/foreign government offices, andImmigrant Support Center for Initial Adjustment nationwide. Programs cover basic living tips for newarrivals, understanding cultural differences for a better marriage, information services for life in Korea,and procedures to get permission to stay.
You can apply at the Immigration and Social Integration Network Website (www.socinet.go.kr).

Advantages of Completing the Immigrant Initial Adaptation Program
  • M arried immigrants are granted 2 years visa upon registration (excluding those who have entry restrictions)
  • Upon participation of the KIIP, 2 hours will be considered completed from the total hours of the whole course as your benefit.(applies to all levels)
    • Two(2) hours will be considered complete upon the designation of your first level (however, 0 level is excluded).

02 Korea Immigration Integration Program (KIIP)

The Korea Immigration Integration Program facilitates the acquisition of nationality, stay qualification, and etc. for those immigrants who have completed required educational courses (Korean language and cultural courses) approved by the Ministry of Justice, in order to support married immigrants in becoming independent, successful members of Korean society.

Purpose of programs : To promote the early adaptation and successful settlement of immigrants in Korean society

  • Applicants who passed the comprehensive assessment for permanent residence will not take basic courses but be placed in the advanced course immediately

  • When applying for naturalization
    • Recognition of Comprehensive Evaluation for Naturalization for applicants (granted when completing the naturalization program)
    • Exempted from interview (granted when passing the Comprehensive Evaluation for Naturalization)
  • When applying for permanent residence qualification
    • Recognized for fulfilling basic requirements
  • When applying for other stay qualification
    • Additional points awarded (D-8-4 Technology-Based Startup points system, D-9-1 International Trade points system, D-10-1 Job Seeker points system, E-7-4 Skilled Workers points system, F-2-7 Long-term residency point system)
    • Exempt from proving Korean language proficiency, etc.

        • However, links to each level is a measure for the regular Korean language classes by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family to integrated into the Korea Immigration & Integration Program by the Ministry of Justice, and will be effective only until Dec. 31, 2021

The 'Hi Korea' homepage, which is operated in 4 different languages (Korean, English, Japanese, and Chinese), serves as a place where foreigner visitors/residents can file requests or complaints online, report stay location, report changes of study (international students), make reservations for visiting immigration offices, etc.
